Changes At St. Andrews

We have witnessed many major changes since manager Veigas as been at Birmingham....
Some people have even come out and critised the manager and the chairman for it.

Since the new manager joined on the 11th Feb, we have seen 13 new players come in for the main team and 9 other players joining the youth team. 13 players have also left Birmingham, including the likes of Defoe, Mexes, J.Park, Lichtsteiner, McCarthy and more recently Palacio.

All of the deals are been beneficial to Birmingham, adding funds to bring in more players, lowering the total wage, and in some deals bringing in two very decent players for one adding more depth to this Birmingham squad.

Today we have learned from the a Birmingham spokesman that further changes are being made, the manager and chairman are working very hard to take Birmingham forward.

Birmingham are prepared to listen to offers for goalkeeper De Sanctis, who has been in fantastic form this season. Also Mathijsen and Kranjcar are on the way out should the right offer come in for them.

Many people will criticize the manager again for selling even more of his big names but this is a long term plan for manager Veigas, who plans to take the club back to Div1 in the near future.

We caught up with manager Veigas

"Firstly I would just like to guaranty Birmingham fans that I am here to stay and rebuild this squad. This is a long term project for me and of course the chairman has given me his full backing. We are all working very hard behind the scenes to improve this club, squad wise and financially. It's very difficult to make any deals possible in this league, specially when your a div 3 team. Crowd drops, meaning money coming in immediately decreases majorly and causes problems specially if you have big players in the squad with massive wages. That is why we have let some big names go this season. This bring me to the subject of a few more players that could be on their way out of St. Andrews in the next couple of days. De Sanctis has been told that he will be leaving, but only for the right offer. I'm looking at a p/e deal for him which will include another slightly younger coming in with a lesser rating. Mathijsen and Kranjcar are two other who could also be on the way but we are mainly looking for cash for them, unless very talented younger players are offered in a p/e deal. Anyways I'm very excited and really looking forward t the next couple of seasons here at St. Andrews and hope to bring some success to this club as soon as possible. This season we will be trying to finish in a play-off spot, if we fail to do so, next season we are going to go all out for a 1st or 2nd spot finish. I'n not going to settle for a relaxing time in div 3 for a few seasons, either is the chairman and I'm sure either are our amazing fans! COME ON THE BLUES!!!"
