Sakho Signs

Mamadou Sakho has signed for Manchester City from Ipswich

Manchester City manager Steve Thompson could not hide his excitement after finally capturing long term transfer target Mamadou Sakho from fellow division 3 promotion hopefuls Ipswich Town. The French international defender joins City on a three season contract which has seen Federico Fernandez and Antonio Rudiger depart the other way to Portman Road.

Despite being just 24 Sakho brings plenty of experience to the City side having amassed over 240 first team appearances with Sunderland, Wigan, Aston Villa, and more recently Ipswich Town all being former employers.

It has been confirmed that Sakho will be in the Manchester City squad to take on Birmingham on Wednesday evening despite the Frenchman missing the previous 8 matches for Ipswich due to injury.
