IVO ILICEVIC

Strong, Direct and a hell of a shot are only a few of the things that come to mind when talking about Bayern Munich target Ivo Ilicevic. The 24yr old Croatia international is now beginning to show the talent that has taken him from the German Regional League to being chased by the biggest club in the Bundesliga.

The German born player started his career in the youth ranks of Victoria aschaffenburgh back in 1994 at the tender age of 7. In 2005 he joined Regionalliga side FC Darmstadt 98 where he spent one season, impressing enough to earn a move to the Bundesliga with VFL Bochum.

The young midfielder was used sparingly in his first two season's only making 25 appearance's before being loaned out to SpVgg Greuther Furth for the 2008/9 season. In that season he played 38 games scoring 4 goals, his fine form caught the eye of former Bundesliga giants 1.FC Kaiserslautern.

The player spent a season on loan at Kaiserslatern making 30 appearances and helping the club to promotion back to the Bundesliga. With his Impressive form during that season 1.FC Kaiserslautern went ahead and purchased the player to help them stay in the Bundesliga.

Ilicevic had a great season in 2010/11, impressing everyone who watched him, including Croatia manager Slavan Bilic who gave him his first cap when he came on as a late substitute for Luka Modric in a friendly against Norway in October 2010.

In January 2011 Ilicevic was linked with Bayern Munich, but the two clubs could not agree on a fee with the midfielder thought to have a £4million buy-out clause in his contract. It is widely expected that Bayern will return for the midfielder in this transfer window after they lost utility man Hamit Altintop to Real Madrid in June.

The player clearly has talent and with Bayern sniffing around it may not be long before he gets that big club move that every player dreams of.

Ilicevic's current SM club is 1.FC Kaiserslautern and his club are willing to let him go for the bargain price of £4.8 million with a part-exchange price of £5.76million. At 86 rated he would be a fine back-up player for any team.
