Vitorino named new Barnsley FC manager

After a series of contacts during the past months, Marcos Vitorino has been appointed new manager of Division 3 side Barnsley FC on a one and a half year deal.

During the press conference that followed Vitorino's presentation at Oakwell he told us

"I'm very happy to be here at Barnsley. I had a long conversation this afternoon with Mr. Chairman to get to know the club and the team better. We defined our main goal this season is avoiding relegation. We are six points ahead of the red line and reaching the season's half. There's a lot of work to do but I think it's manageable.

The team has some important players injured, suspended and not fit so, our top priority is to be at full power as fast as we can. The group is strong and very experienced and I have confidence that we can do a great job together."

The first game of The Reds under Vitorino's command will be tomorrow at Oakwell against FĂ©lix's Gillingham. Both teams managed to get nineteen points until now but with all the present limitations we believe that it will be a tough one for Barnsley FC.
