As Predicted by TSM, Southend started with a 4-2-3-1 and Swindon started with a 3-5-2.

Southend were unlucky when they had the ball in the net after 4 minutes.

  • 4'  Russ played a defence splitting pass to Bulut who managed to get in a shot.... GOAL...OFFSIDE....Bulut was ahead of the last defender when the ball was plated.
  • 23' Celustka tackled Henrique in the box...Penalty to Southend..... replay suggests that Celustka played the ball first, BULUT goes for the top corner, the ball goes in off the bar... GOAL!
HALF-TIME 1-0
  • 49' Gouffran crosses the ball towards the penalty spot. BULUT powers a header towards goal. Curci gets a hand to it but can't keep it out.......GOAL!
Southend have a 2-goal lead after 49 minutes.
  • 58' SIO takes the ball on and strikes low shot. The ball zips past Alvarez into the net....GOAL!
Swindon pull a goal back to give themselves a chance to save the points

  • 78' Rodriguez out wide, strikes a high ball into the penalty area, RUDNEVS jumps high and redirects the ball towards the goal.......GOAL!
  • 85' Lopez brings down Sio, the referee shows LOPEZ a 2nd yellow card and sends him off, reducing Southend to 10-men for the last few minutes.
Southend manage to hold on and the match ends all square at 2-2

This result sees Southend stay in 4th place and Swindon stay 1st in the table.
